4 steps

Follow this base recipe in order. The materials list specifies one hook size; adjust proportions together when tying another size.

  1. Prepare

    Fit the cone and seat it with a few wire wraps. Cover with thread and tie rib wire at the bend.

  2. Body

    Wrap silver braid from the bend to behind the cone, then secure and trim.

  3. Squirrel wing

    Set a strip above the body with a shank-length tail. Counter-wrap rib wire through parted fur to anchor the hide.

  4. Collar

    Wind the remaining strip once or twice behind the cone, sweeping fur rearward. Secure, trim, whip finish, and cement.

Strip across pools or swing through deeper seams, adding pauses for the fur to open.
