From hook to fly

Follow this base recipe in order. The materials list specifies one hook size; adjust proportions together when tying another size.

Set the tail
Cover the shank with thread. Attach a sparse craft-fur tail at the bend and cement the tie-in.
Body
Wind several chenille turns over the tail base and secure.
Brush head
Attach the brush ahead of the chenille. Wind toward the eye, stroking fibers rearward, and tie off.
Finish
Whip finish and cement. Pick out trapped fibers, comb back, and bar the tail with marker.

Beyond the bench

Place ahead of a cruising redfish and move with short strips. This unweighted version suits shallow water.
