Work through the numbered steps in order. Use the written materials and proportions as your guide; select an image for a closer look.

  1. Borski’s Slider, step 1: Fix the eyes

    Fix the eyes

    Anchor dumbbells one-third of the shank behind the eye with cross wraps and glue.

  2. Borski’s Slider, step 2: Add the tail

    Add the tail

    Remove craft-fur underfur; secure a tail extending two hook lengths beyond the bend.

  3. Borski’s Slider, step 3: Wrap the body

    Wrap the body

    Tie hackle at the tail base; spiral forward, secure behind the eyes, and trim excess.

  4. Borski’s Slider, step 4: Flare the collar

    Flare the collar

    Stack deer hair, tips rearward toward the bend. Tighten loose wraps to flare it behind the eyes.

  5. Borski’s Slider, step 5: Spin the head

    Spin the head

    Spin another hair bunch ahead of the dumbbells. Secure, advance thread, and whip finish.

  6. Borski’s Slider, step 6: Shape and finish

    Shape and finish

    Round the head with scissors, preserving the longer collar. Glue thread wraps and bar the tail.
