4 steps

Follow this base recipe in order. The materials list specifies one hook size; adjust proportions together when tying another size.

  1. Weight and ends

    Wrap weight on the front half and secure with thread. Attach two short tails and two antennae.

  2. Place the legs

    Tie three rubber strands across the body with figure-eight wraps, making three pairs of legs.

  3. Wrap chenille

    Attach chenille at the bend and wind forward between the legs. Secure behind the eye.

  4. Finish

    Whip finish and cement. Trim tails and antennae shorter than the side legs; free any trapped rubber.

Drift through stonefly water near the bottom. Adjust weight to stay in contact without repeatedly snagging.
