4 steps

Follow this base recipe in order. The materials list specifies one hook size; adjust proportions together when tying another size.

  1. Tail

    Tie a squirrel strip at the bend with a shank-length tail. Leave the long end available to wrap forward.

  2. Foam and belly

    Tie the narrow end of a foam strip at the bend. Wrap squirrel forward to behind the eye and secure.

  3. Back and lip

    Part fur to either side. Pull foam over the body, secure behind the eye, and trim a lip about 1/4 inch long.

  4. Finish

    Whip finish, seal the wraps with UV resin, and cure. Trim most fur from the tail and clear the eye.

Retrieve steadily enough to leave a V-shaped wake. Try banks and cover where fish will take a large surface meal.
