Work through the numbered steps in order. Use the written materials and proportions as your guide; select an image for a closer look.

  1. Klinkhamer Special, step 1: Set the post

    Set the post

    Attach yarn two eye-lengths behind the eye. Taper the rearward waste ends under thread to form an underbody.

  2. Klinkhamer Special, step 2: Shape the abdomen

    Shape the abdomen

    Apply very sparse tan dubbing and wind up the curved shank. Stop behind the post.

  3. Klinkhamer Special, step 3: Support the hackle

    Support the hackle

    Tie in herl and prepared hackle. Raise the hackle stem beside the yarn and bind both into a firm upright post.

  4. Klinkhamer Special, step 4: Build the thorax

    Build the thorax

    Wrap peacock herl around the shank on both sides of the post, then secure and trim.

  5. Klinkhamer Special, step 5: Wind the parachute

    Wind the parachute

    Wrap hackle down the post in adjacent turns. Tie off at its base, whip finish, cement the knot, and trim the post.
